The Problem

Gas is expensive. Thus, driving is expensive.

However, people need to drive to get work and perform their required activities. We need to use lower amount of fuel we use. In the past, people have car pooled with their co-workers or friends to save on gas.

My goal of the product is to make car-pooling more efficient.

The Solution

People should be able to share their plans with other on the site about their travel plans. If the service can find people with similar destination, the site will be able to match them and eliminate the redundant use of resources.

To find similar people, the system will look for similar starting and destinations point and also comparable times of departure. This would help people find someone who lives two blocks from him or her and works five block from their office. Also, a person may suddenly need to go on the same route as their neighbor and will be able to find a quick match.

I realize that this solution raises some important questions about security. To match that challenge, the system will need to complete background checks on the users. Also, a person may be able to rate their experience on the service with the person, so other users will be able to avoid poor experiences

Additionally, some people will overuse the service as passengers and enough as a driver. These people will be a real liability to the usefulness of the service. A point system will be used to maintain credibility of users. If you drive people you get positive points. When you are a passenger, you have points taken from you. At the end of the month a person can pay up or be paid based on the point they have.

Revenues can be generated via advertisements. In addition, member fees may be collected. Also a percentage of the transfer revenue can be collected.
